“Different light…” – Marcus Rashford’s England teammate addresses nightclub problem
Conor Coady has addressed the problems that England teammate and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is going through currently.
Rashford, 26, was spotted in a nightclub last Thursday evening before he called in sick for training the following morning. He was absent from the FA Cup win against Newport County.
Whilst the issue has been resolved now, with the club releasing a statement, there have been major stories within the press focusing on Rashford and his ill-disciplined situation.
Coady, who now plays for Leicester City, has been a regular in the England squad in recent years and has commented on the problems his international teammate is going through.
“It’s hard to put my finger on it,” said Coady. “Having known him and spent time in his company, obviously being with England and different things.
“I’ve seen him in a different light, sitting down and having a coffee with him, him being a top fella and speaking about Manchester United.
“So, seeing these things in the press, you look at it, and you think, ‘What is actually going on?’ Something is happening, everybody can see it. But whether that is with United or Marcus, I am not sure.”
Rashford had four goal contributions in his last four matches before the incident, which kept him out of selection for Newport County in the FA Cup.
He will be available for Erik ten Hag’s side ahead of the Premier League return against Wolves on Thursday evening.
Asked whether starting him will send out the wrong message, Ten Hag said: “I didn’t pick him on Sunday. We draw the line and, from that point on, we move on.”
