BREAKING: Manchester United release final Marcus Rashford statement and confirm Wolves availability
Manchester United have released their final statement on Marcus Rashford’s current situation after he missed training last week following a visit to a nightclub in Belfast.
Rashford, 26, was unavailable for United’s FA Cup victory against Newport on Sunday, with the club stating that he was unavailable through illness and that he had stayed at Carrington to continue recovery.
This followed shortly from reports which explained that Rashford went out in Belfast the night before reporting himself as too ill to attend training on Friday at the Carrington base.
United were initially informed that the winger was out in Belfast on Wednesday evening, but he also attended a nightclub the following night before training.
Erik ten Hag described the situation as an “internal matter” when asked about it on Sunday. Rashford arrived at the training ground on Monday morning, with brother and agent Dwaine Maynard also appearing.
The club have since released a statement clarifying the current situation following the player’s talks with United boss Ten Hag.
Manchester United’s full statement read: “Marcus [Rashford] has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.”
It has also been confirmed by various outlets that the England international is now back in training and will be available for selection on Thursday when United face Wolves.
The same Premier League clash last season saw Rashford dropped to the bench in red-hot form because he was late to a pre-match meeting. He scored the winner after coming off the bench.
Rashford had two goals and two assists in his last four appearances for the club before the January break.
