Erik ten Hag has provided an unpopular Manchester United line-up hint for when Premier League action resumes against Wolves this Thursday.

The Reds were 4-2 victors in their fourth-round FA Cup clash against Newport County on Sunday evening, with goals from Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Antony and Rasmus Højlund securing progression into the next round.

Altay Bayındır was between the sticks as the Turkish goalkeeper made his belated debut for the club after André Onana’s departure to AFCON earlier this month.

Despite conceding two, Bayındır provided a solid display, with many supporters excited about his inclusion following Onana’s difficult start to life at Old Trafford.

“I think it was a composed debut,” said Ten Hag of the no.1. “Some good saves, so very composed. I think, overall, he can be happy. I was pleased with his performance.”

However, the United boss also explained that Onana would be returning from AFCON for the upcoming Premier League clash against Wolves.

Cameroon were knocked out of the competition by Nigeria on the weekend and Onana had been dropped to the bench for the second game in a row.

Despite this, alongside his difficulties at United so far, Ten Hag has hinted that the no.24 will return between the sticks, suggesting that he will be able to pick his ‘strongest’ side for Wolves.

Andre Onana will be back for Thursday,” confirmed Ten Hag on Sunday night. “Maybe, for the first time as long as I was manager, I can pick a team from the squad that is probably the strongest here.”

Onana has played 30 games for United since joining from Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.
