Man Utd star upset after Newport win as Michael Olise theory made
Manchester United won 4-2 against League Two side Newport County, but one star appeared to be left upset after the FA Cup victory.
Erik ten Hag’s side failed to truly impress yet again this season with another uninspiring performance despite fielding a full-strength team against the lower league opposition.
First-half strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo were cancelled out by the hosts shortly after the second half started. Additional goals from Antony and Rasmus Højlund secured an unconvincing win for United.
Antony played 88 minutes and registered an assist alongside his goal. They were his first direct contributions of the season so far.
However, many still criticised the Brazilian’s performance, with many wasted chances against weak opposition. Fans were also unhappy that Amad Diallo was not provided the opportunity to play.
Erik ten Hag brought on academy player Omari Forson ahead of the Ivorian, who impressed when he returned from injury earlier this month.
Following full-time, Amad liked a post on social media platform X, formally known as Twitter, suggesting that he re-join Sunderland, whom he was on loan last season, if he doesn’t get opportunities at United. He unliked the post shortly afterwards.
The post read: “Here, Amad Diallo – if they’re not going to start you in the FA Cup away at Newport County it really isn’t worth you giving them your time. Come home, come somewhere you’re truly appreciated.”
Meanwhile, United are being linked to another right-winger in the Premier League as INEOS appear to favour Michael Olise of Crystal Palace.
The England international is reportedly a fan of the Old Trafford club and would prefer a move to United over Chelsea, who are also interested.
Olise scored a wonderful free-kick against United last term in the dying seconds to secure Palace a draw. He did not celebrate the goal and United fans have since suggested that it’s because of the fact he supports the club.
