Club release statement denying Altay Bayindir transfer from Manchester United
Turkish Super Lig team Trabzonspor have denied that they have entered talks to sign Manchester United keeper Altay Bayindir.
Bayındır, who is United’s current No. 1, has made just one appearance for the Red Devils, playing 90 minutes in the FA Cup against Newport County earlier this calendar year.
Arriving from Fenerbache in a £4.3 million deal in September of last year, Bayındır has failed to become a key part of Erik ten Hag’s starting XIs.

As a result of this, Bayındır has been frequently linked with a move back to Turkey, with his career in the Premier League reportedly set to an end after just one season. Despite this, Trabzonspor have announced that he is not currently set to sign for the side.
Releasing a statement on their X account, Trabzonspor announced that despite reports in Turkey implying that an agreement had been met between United and the Turkish side, such speculation is categorically false.
Confirming that there have been no negotiations between Bayindir and Trabzonspor, the Super Lig team wrote the following:
“The news in the national and local press regarding the transfer of professional football player Altay Bayındır to our club does not reflect the truth.
“Our club does not have any [ongoing] work regarding the player in question.”
With Bayındır signing a five-year contract with the Red Devils, it is unclear what his next steps will be. Due to his lack of game time, the United keeper’s place in Vincenzo Montella’s Turkish National Team squad for Euro 2024 is seemingly uncertain.
Additionally, there will be doubts over whether or not United will let Bayındır go, with Football Insider reporting that United’s other backup keeper, Tom Heaton, will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of next month.
