Manchester United won 4-2 against Newport County in their FA Cup fourth-round clash at Rodney Parade but Erik ten Hag’s side were poor.

Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo scored similar goals to give United a comfortable lead early on, but a stunning volley from Bryn Morris has ensured the League Two side remained in the game before an early second half goal made things all level.

Antony scored a third eventually before Rasmus Højlund added a late goal to add a fourth, but Erik ten Hag’s team were underwhelming yet again.

The player ratings so far can be read below.

Altay Bayındır – 6/10

Decent display on his debut. Couldn’t exactly do much about either goal.

Diogo Dalot – 6/10

Good cutback for United’s second goal. Poor defending at front post for the equaliser. OK performance overall.

Raphaël Varane – 5/10

Poor defending for equaliser. Decent otherwise.

Lisandro Martínez – 7/10

Amazing pass over the top to Garnacho. Smooth in possession. United’s best player.

Luke Shaw – 4.5/10

One lazy pass early on. OK otherwise, not great.

Casemiro – 4.5/10

Not a great display on his return.

Kobbie Mainoo – 7/10

Great finish for his first goal. Good performance.

Bruno Fernandes – 5.5/10

Good finish for the opener. Not great otherwise.

Antony – 5.5/10

A goal and assist. Can’t fault him with that but you still want to see more in his all-round attacking play.

Rasmus Højlund – 7/10

Unfortunate to again be isolated without service. Made some good runs without the pass coming. When the ball did reach him, he utilised it well and eventually got a deserved goal.

Alejandro Garnacho – 5/10

Not a great performance. Needed to look up more in attacking situations.
