Gabriele Biancheri was on the scoresheet in his first appearance for Manchester United under-18s in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Leeds United.

The highly rated 16-year-old did not take long to make an impact for his new team, scoring shortly after coming off the bench on his club debut.

After seeing an initial attempt at goal blocked, Biancheri found the back of the net from an acute angle on the right side of the box. He drifted past one defender before sliding the ball in between the goalkeeper’s legs.

Despite his goal putting The Reds 3-1 up, their celebrations were spoiled after two late goals from Ben Andreucci as the spoils were shared in the Under-18s Premier League clash.

United had originally clawed back from a deficit of their own, with goals from James Nolan and Ethan Williams coming after an own goal from Habeeb Ogunneye gave Leeds the lead in the eighth minute of the game.

The young forward completed his move to Manchester United from Cardiff City in February after spending more than nine years with the Welsh outfit.

United confirmed that Biancheri will join the club on scholar terms until he turns 17 in September and is able to sign a professional contract with the club.

The signing follows the steps United have been taking in recent years of targeting the best talent within the United Kingdom.

Ethan Ennis was recently snatched from Liverpool’s academy and Charlie McNeill joined the club from Manchester City in 2020.

McNeill is currently learning his trade on loan in League Two with Newport County. The forward has made three starts since his January switch but is yet to score his first goal for The Ironsides.
