Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag spoke with Leeds interim manager Michael Skubala after his side’s 2-0 Premier League victory at Elland Road.

Sunday afternoon’s affair was a tight contest until two late goals from The Reds proved the difference.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho both found the net after a tactical tweak from the United manager, however, Leeds proved a difficult test for Ten Hag’s in-form side.

It was not until the 80th minute that United broke the deadlock and the hosts had a number of opportunities to score throughout the encounter, with their best chance coming in the opening exchanges through Crysencio Summerville.

They held United to a draw just five days prior at Old Trafford and even went 2-0 ahead in that fixture after sloppy defending from the hosts.

Despite Leeds being unable to repeat their impressive feat in the reverse fixture, Ten Hag was complimentary about The Whites and how the management team set up their side.

“I think it’s a personal conversation that one,” the Leeds caretaker told the press when asked about his conversation with the United boss. “But he was really complimentary about how the team was set up and how we played it. He said it was a tough game, things like that. Yeah, it’s really nice to see how complimentary he was about our structure and our tactics.

“They’re a good team. I think he’s done a great job, Erik ten Hag, getting that team playing and like you say, getting them fighting and being competitive at the same time. But I thought we matched that in every account.

“I thought we matched the quality. I thought we matched in competitiveness. I thought we matched it tactically and structurally as well for 80 minutes of the game.”
