Exclusive: Man United defender Di’Shon Bernard targeting Championship loan in January following injury recovery
Manchester United defender Di’Shon Bernard is targeting a loan move to the Championship this month after recovering from a long-term injury.
Bernard, 22, enjoyed a successful campaign with Hull City last term before losing his place in the team in the latter months of the season.
However, the centre-back missed out on a summer loan at the beginning of this campaign after an injury blow. He didn’t return to action until last month when he appeared in United’s friendly match against Spanish side Cadiz.
Club sources have told UtdDistrict that Bernard is now targeting a return to the Championship this month on a loan deal.
Bernard posted an emotional Instagram post following his return to action in December.
“After a long battle with injury, I couldn’t be happier to finally step foot back on the pitch and get 45 minutes under my belt,” he wrote.
“Blessed for the opportunity and ready to kick on and get fully fit.”
There is also a number of other players in Mark Dempsey’s under-21s side that are open to mid-season loan moves if the correct opportunity arises for both player and club.

It has already been reported that Charlie McNeill could be one of those, with Football League clubs already sniffing around the talented striker. UtdDistrict have been told that the English forward has number of different outfits after his loan signature.
He formed a deadly partnership with Alejandro Garnacho, now a first-team regular, in United’s FA Youth Cup triumph last season.
United already have Amad Diallo, Alvaro Fernandez and Ethan Laird on loan in England’s second tier.
