Two wildcard managers have been added to Manchester United’s shortlist of potential names to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Manchester United find themselves struggling in 14th place in the Premier League, with growing calls for Erik ten Hag’s dismissal following a series of underwhelming performances.

The team has managed just two wins in their last six games—a 7-0 demolition of Barnsley and a 3-0 victory over Southampton, where André Onana’s key penalty save proved crucial.

Draws against FC Twente and FC Porto, coupled with heavy 3-0 home defeats to Liverpool and Tottenham, have raised serious doubts about Ten Hag’s future. Although a recent draw with Aston Villa has temporarily eased the pressure, speculation remains high.

Despite expectations that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and United’s board might sack Ten Hag after their latest board meeting, reports now indicate the Dutchman will stay in charge, at least for the time being.

However, with difficult fixtures coming up after the international break, Ten Hag could very well be dismissed in the coming weeks and United would need to look for their next manager.

INEOS have already started doing their research behind the scenes and have names such as Thomas Tuchel as potential replacements.

United shortlist two surprise managers

According to a new report from The Sun, former Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic is a shock name on the club’s shortlist to replace Ten Hag.

It was also claimed that the manager, who is currently out of work after leaving the Bundesliga giants last season, has many admirers at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim has also been earmarked as a potential replacement at United, as per transfer reporter Dean Jones.

What Bruno Fernandes said about Ruben Amorim

Amorim has recently received top praise from United captain Bruno Fernandes, who believes the Portuguese manager is ready to take the next step in his career.

“In relation to Amorim, he shows that he is prepared at this moment,” Fernandes told reporters. “Coaching Sporting and winning championships is not easy.

“Sporting went 20 years without winning championships and Amorim arrived and has already won two, this shows that the work has been done well.

“If he could manage to do the same in England, Spain or anywhere else, you will never know until you get there, but I’m sure his qualities are there for everyone to see.”
