Andre Onana sends huge compliment to Man United teammate, “one of the best in the world”
André Onana has sent a huge compliment to one Manchester United teammate after winning 3-0 against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
Erik ten Hag made two changes to his starting lineup as Manchester United took on Southampton in the Premier League, with Amad Diallo and Christian Eriksen coming in for Alejandro Garnacho and Casemiro.
Southampton started strongly, putting pressure on United and forcing André Onana into several early saves.
The first major incident saw Diogo Dalot bring down Tyler Dibling in the box, but Onana denied the penalty.
Shortly after, Matthijs de Ligt headed in Bruno Fernandes’ cross for his first goal for the club. Marcus Rashford then made it 2-0, slotting the ball low past Aaron Ramsdale.
United continued to control the game in the second half. Although Joshua Zirkzee missed a chance, substitute Garnacho sealed the 3-0 win with a late goal.
Onana sends huge compliment to Rashford
It was an essential moment for Marcus Rashford when his effort from outside of the box found the back of the net, and he looked positive afterwards.
Onana, who spoke to TNT Sports after the victory, was glowing in his praise of Rashford, who he believes can be one of the “best in the world” at his best.
“He had a tough season last year, but today, he showed he’s a good player, one of the best in the world,” Onana claimed.
“It’s not how you fall, bit how many times you stand up,” he added when asked about the difficulties the England international has faced over the last year.
“I’m very happy for him, and hopefully, he will score many more goals for the team.”
