Two European clubs tell Man United the ‘stumbling block’ around key transfer
Manchester United have been told the stumbling block surrounding one of their key transfers this summer.
INEOS are keen to improve Erik ten Hag’s squad in the summer transfer window, with several key positions to strengthen.
However, United will have to be careful in the market, with the club walking on a financial tightrope after overspending in recent windows.
Sales are going to be very important for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team if they want to address their major concerns in the squad.
Jadon Sancho is one player that they want to sell and he has been linked to a variety of clubs since his short-term loan at Borussia Dortmund ended last month.
He reached the Champions League final with the German side, which helped raise the stock of the player after he was banished from United’s first-team squad for over four months.
According to ESPN, the Reds still want to find a permanent exit for Sancho this summer but have not ruled out a loan move if that is not possible.
It was explained that United had offered the 24-year-old winger to both Barcelona and Juventus this summer, who have both been credited with an interest in the player.
However, United’s valuation of around £40 million for Sancho is proving a stumbling block for interested clubs.
The report explained that Sancho is due to return to Carrington for pre-season on July 8 if an exit has been agreed on by then.
Sancho trained individually at United’s training base between September and January before his mid-season loan to Borussia Dortmund. Arrangements for his potential return have not yet been finalised by the club.
