Turkish club submit official offer for Manchester United outcast, he won’t play for Rúben Amorim this season

Eyupspor, a Turkish football club, have submitted an official offer to sign a Manchester United outcast after a move away from Old Trafford broke down on Deadline Day.

While Manchester United were busy bringing in new players for Rúben Amorim’s squad, the main focus for Jason Wilcox appears to have been on offloading those who won’t play a role in the first-team squad this season.

The “Bomb Squad” – a group of five players created at the start of the summer – were all deemed unnecessary for Amorim’s 2025/26 plans, despite their former roles as starting players.

Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho all found moves before the end of the English transfer window, as did Rasmus Højlund, who was added to the list of outcasts at Old Trafford after Benjamin Šeško signed for United.

Another man who has been added to the list of outcasts is Andre Onana. The former Ajax shotstopper appears to have no future under Amorim after Senne Lammens joined United, as Altay Bayindir is currently ahead of Onana in the pecking order.

Eyupspor submit offer for Malacia

Tyrell Malacia was the fifth name on Amorim’s list of outcasts, and looked set for a Deadline Day move to Elche, but talks broke down as it became clear the deal couldn’t be completed in time.

Many thought this meant Malacia could stay at Old Trafford and play backup to Patrick Dorgu, but that role looks set to be shared by Diogo Dalot and Diego Leon until January at the earliest.

Now, StrettyNews have reported that Eyupspor – a side in the Turkish top flight – have submitted an offer for Malacia for a season-long loan deal away from United.

While Wilcox will likely prefer a permanent deal, this could be the only way to offload Malacia this summer, and as he won’t play for Amorim, United may have to accept this offer.

Malacia needs a permanent move

When Malacia first joined United, fans were excited about the prospect of signing a young left-back who could provide competition to Luke Shaw, who was in the form of his life.

For the first season, that is exactly what Malacia did, even finding himself starting against Liverpool and keeping Mohammed Salah quiet as Sancho scored the winning goal for Erik ten Hag’s first victory.

However, Malacia’s spell out of the squad with a serious knee injury – that lasted over 12 months – all but ended his United career because the Red Devils can’t afford to give him the playing time needed to regain full fitness.

His loan spell during the second half of last season was a positive step for Malacia, but he now needs to play a full season, week in and week out, to return to his former level, and he won’t be able to do this at Old Trafford.
