Sources: Manchester United make striker decision with transfer approach outlined
Manchester United will be busy in the coming months as the summer transfer market comes alive ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
The Reds ended the 2023/24 season in tremendous fashion, winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City. However, their eighth-placed Premier League finish provided a better picture of the team’s situation.
It is no secret that United have numerous priorities going into this window and INEOS will be keen to improve the playing squad at Old Trafford.
Currently, while negotiations are ongoing with targets, there are no advanced transfer situations at United, with the managerial situation needing to be clarified beforehand. Reports suggest that this will be confirmed next week.
UtdDistrict understands that the club are still intent on bringing a left-footed and right-footed centre-back, as well as two central midfielders; the latter will be very dependent on the financial situation, with the club in need of sales to boost their budget.
An additional striker is also a well-known target for United after Anthony Martial’s departure. Rasmus Højlund is currently the only recognised no.9 at Old Trafford.
It has previously been suggested within the media that the club are not entirely sure about the profile of the player they would want to bring into that position.
Sources have told UtdDistrict that the forward is likely to be a squad player rather than a big-money signing.
Højlund scored 16 goals for the club in his debut campaign last term but struggled at points throughout the season.
