Sofyan Amrabat has dropped a big hint over his Manchester United future after his season-long loan has ended.

Amrabat, 27, joined United last summer on loan from Fiorentina and has been a bit-part player for Erik ten Hag’s side for most of the season.

However, the Moroccan has come into the team in recent weeks and performed well. He was extremely impressive in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City.

Many have assumed that Amrabat will be departing the club and United will not be activating the buy-option in his contract. They could make his Old Trafford stay permanent for just over £20 million.

Interest has been shown in the midfielder despite his turbulent season at United. However, he has clarified that nothing has been decided yet, and staying at The Reds is still an option for him.

“Do I already know what I’m going to do next year? No. We are going to talk,” he told Dutch media outlet Ziggo Sport.

“Staying is certainly an option. Look, I think it has been a very difficult season. For Manchester United, it needs to be much better, and also for me personally.”

Amrabat has made 30 appearances for the club this season, although only 17 of those have been starts. He spent a long time on the bench after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations and also played as a left-back multiple times due to injuries.

“That wasn’t easy,” he said of filling in at left-back. “I have always remained calm and trained very hard. Ultimately, that patience has been rewarded.

“A very big compliment to the coach, he prepared us so well. This is exactly the plan we wanted, and what he said came true. We just had to keep it compact, keep the spaces very small, work really hard and then hope to do something during transitions.

“I think we scored two perfect goals and gave away very little. In the end, all in all, it was a perfect plan, and we executed it to perfection.”
