Sheffield Wednesday are keen to sign two more Manchester United talents on loan in January after having success with the addition of Harry Amass.
Manchester United made the controversial decision to send Harry Amass on loan to Sheffield Wednesday at the beginning of the season.
The Championship club have had significant financial issues regarding their previous owner, with players and staff not being paid on time.
Dejphon Chansiri eventually placed the club into administration last month and has departed. Wednesday sit at the bottom of the Championship with a negative points tally after receiving punishment.
Despite all of this, Amass’ loan so far has been largely successful. The talented defender has started all 11 league fixtures so far, playing 90 minutes in the last 10 and scoring his first professional goal last time out against Southampton.
The situation at Wednesday means that there are lots of opportunities for Amass and United may look at giving the struggling side some more talent in the January window.
Wednesday want to sign two more United stars on loan
Wednesday are equally pleased with Amass and hope to be able to keep him beyond January as his current loan deal only lasts until the mid-season window.
The Championship side’s manager Henrik Pedersen said: “I spoke with Kevin [Beadell, recruitment manager]. Today we have been in Manchester to have a meeting with them about this situation for the future.
“I think we should have this back in the next two or three weeks when we speak about the development from Harry and what it could look like after Christmas.”
They are also reportedly eyeing other United talent to sign on loan in January, with reports from UnitedInFocus stating that two players are on Wednesday’s radar.
Those reports explain how The Owls are looking to bring in a striker to help with their poor goalscoring record and that Gabriele Biancheri is on their target list.
Biancheri has been a goalscoring machine for United’s youth sides over the last 18 months and United could be looking to send him off to get first-team opportunities.
Wednesday are also eyeing a move for Biancheri’s U21s teammate Victor Musa, who United are considering for a mid-season loan departure.
Struggles at Wednesday will help United youth
United have several loan deals going well currently, with Amass and Radek Vitek being the standouts at the moment.
Jonny Evans took control of the loans department after his retirement earlier this year and the ex-defender appears to be doing a good job in that department.
While many were concerned about the idea of United’s youth heading to Sheffield Wednesday, the struggles that Amass – and potentially others – experience there will help much more than being in a comfortable environment.
To be a success at Old Trafford, you need to deal with so many challenges and preparing the youth for that through the right loan moves is something United have missed in recent years but it seems like that process is improving.
