Rúben Amorim may have already asked Manchester United to secure 23 y/o sensation signing
Rúben Amorim may have already asked Manchester United to secure a 23-year-old Bundesliga sensation during his talks with the Old Trafford club.
Manchester United are moving swiftly to secure Rúben Amorim as their new Head Coach after parting ways with Erik ten Hag.
The decision to sack Ten Hag came in the wake of United’s 2-1 loss to West Ham, where a controversial penalty, converted by Jarrad Bowen, sealed the defeat.

Following the official announcement of Ten Hag’s departure on Monday morning, speculation ran high about his replacement, with reports by evening suggesting that Sporting CP’s Rúben Amorim is United’s preferred candidate.
It has since been revealed that Amorim will join the Old Trafford club during the international break after 10 November.
In the meantime, Ruud van Nistelrooy has stepped in as interim manager and led the team to a 5-2 victory over Leicester City in his first match in charge.
Summer transfer targets
At the same time, United are said to be stepping up their pursuit of 23-year-old Bayern Munich sensation Alphonso Daives.
According to various reports from Germany, United have become more concrete in their interest in the left-back, which coincides with their rounds of talks with Amorim as they convinced him to join their project.
The club are said to be collecting extensive data on the Canadian international as they look to sign a new left-back this summer in the wake of injury struggles.
As it stands, Davies is not in discussions with Bayern over a new contract. His current deal expires in 2025, meaning he will be a free agent next summer if he does not negotiate a pre-contract agreement with another club between January and the summer.
Further, the report claims that United made an informal enquiry with the star player’s camp in recent months.
A request from Amorim?
The timing of United’s increased interest could well be linked to their talks with Amorim, as Davies is a player who would suit his system perfectly and may have been requested by the Portuguese head coach.
At Sporting, Amorim’s back-three formation relies on hard-working and attacking full-backs on the flanks, and Davies fits this role almost to a tee.
United have famously struggled at left-back throughout 2024, with the side not having either of their first choices, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, available since March of this year.
Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, and Lisandro Martínez have all covered the position across the last eight months. Still, Davies would be a perfect player to bring in for Amorim as a statement signing next summer.
