Revealed: Ruben Amorim’s first five Manchester United games as arrival date reported
Ruben Amorim’s first five games as Manchester United manager have been revealed after his arrival date for his new job has been reported.
Manchester United got off to a winning start under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy on Wednesday evening, winning 5-2 against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.
It was originally hoped that this would be the Dutchman’s only game in charge, following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag earlier in the week.
Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim is set to become the club’s new permanent head coach and United were eager to try and get the 39-year-old in before the Chelsea game on Sunday.
However, they remain locked in negotiations with the Portuguese side and there may be more games for Van Nistelrooy to take charge of at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim’s United arrival reported
It has been stated by various reports, including talkSPORT, that Amorim is set to stay at Sporting until the international break.
He would manage the Portuguese club’s next three fixtures before jetting to Manchester after their game against Braga on 10 November.
An official announcement for the deal could be announced on Thursday morning, despite Amorim remaining put for the time being.
What will Ruben Amorim’s first five games be?
Should Amorim join up with the club on 10 November, he will have the international break to get to know his surroundings at Carrington and many of his new players.
His first game would come away from home against Ipswich Town, who are yet to win a Premier League game so far this season, on Sunday, 24 November.
Following on from that, Amorim’s side will turn their attention to the Europa League against Bodø/Glimt in the manager’s first game at Old Trafford on Thursday, 28 November.
Then, three days later on Sunday, 1 December, the Reds will host Everton in the Premier League before making their way to London to face Arsenal on Wednesday, 4 December.
Amorim’s fifth game in charge would come at Old Trafford once again against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, 7 December.
While no game is played on paper, it is a favourable run of fixtures-barring the Arsenal clash-for Amorim to start his United career in the right way.
