Bruno Fernandes has rejected an “astronomical” transfer offer from Saudi Arabia amid further ambitions with Manchester United.

Last month, Bruno Fernandes, 29, had the opportunity to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal during the transfer window, but the Manchester United captain chose to turn down the lucrative offer.

Despite being presented with a ‘pharaonic proposal’, the Portuguese midfielder ‘responded negatively’ to Jorge Jesus’ side.

It is said that Fernandes decided to reject the offer for two reasons – he wanted to stay loyal to the Old Trafford club, and it is also reported that he expressed his belief that he still has goals to achieve before calling his time at Old Trafford to an end.

Although Fernandes has rejected the proposal, for now, Al-Hilal is expected to launch a new effort to secure his signature in the summer.

Fernandes, after joining United for a fee of around £55 million, has had an incredibly successful time at the club, having made over 215 appearances since February 2020, scoring 71 goals and providing 60 assists to date.

He’s our captain, and he often gives the right example by his attitude in training, in games, always bringing the energy and very important for us by creating chances,” Erik ten Hag said of Bruno Fernandes recently.

“It’s a pleasure to work with him… I hope he will play many more years for Manchester United.”
