Rasmus Højlund has rubbished a claim that it “must be sh*t” to play with Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford following Manchester United’s Premier League win over Wolves.

Rasmus Højlund has been in fine form since the turn of 2024, with the player having grabbed six goal involvements in his last five games, including scoring during Manchester United‘s 4-3 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday evening.

Although Kobbie Mainoo deservedly grabbed headlines after his stunning last-minute winner, Højlund himself deserves praise for his well-taken goal in the first half.

The young Dane started alongside Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho on Thursday and has explained that he feels a relationship between the three players is starting to develop – contrary to the opinion of former United defender Paul Parker.

“Honestly, it must be shit to be Rasmus Højlund and play with those teammates. No strikers want to play alongside Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho,” Parker told Tipsbladet last week.

“I’ve seen that Roy Keane has said that Højlund hasn’t shown enough desire to score goals, but it must also be difficult when you never get the ball. However, I can see where Keane is coming from because Højlund sometimes doesn’t make the runs into the box, which is a weakness. He needs to improve on that.

“On the other hand, all Manchester United fans understand him. Why should he exert energy on it when he won’t get the ball anyway? I’ve said it before, but he needs to be more selfish. He should demand to get the ball every time.”

Speaking after the Wolves game to TNT Sports, Højlund was full of praise for both his forward counterparts, saying: “It’s a good chemistry. We are starting to get [together]. I think you can see the relationship with Me, Garna, and Marcus starting to do good.

“Garnacho also had a good pass to me in the second half where I didn’t score, and I had an assist for Rashy today.”
