Rasmus Højlund new Man United shirt number revealed, Joshua Zirkzee to get old number
Rasmus Højlund will receive a new shirt number at Manchester United once he returns from his post-Euro 2024 holiday.
Højlund, 21, signed for United last summer and scored 16 goals during his debut campaign at Old Trafford.
The striker took the vacant no.11 shirt after Mason Greenwood’s loan exit to Spanish side Getafe; however, he is in line for a new shirt number for the 2024/25 campaign.
According to The United Stand, the Danish striker is expected to receive the vacant no.9 shirt when he returns to the club.
Anthony Martial departed the club last month, leaving the door open for Højlund to get the iconic shirt.
Many fans expected that new signing Joshua Zirkzee would receive the no.9 shirt after his move was confirmed on Sunday afternoon.
It instead looks increasingly likely that the Dutch forward takes Højlund’s old no.11 number and that is one he is familiar with.
After moving to Bologna in the summer of 2022, Zirkzee received the no.11 shirt before changing to the no.9 in the following campaign.
Several other shirt number changes have occurred at United, including big upgrades for young stars Harry Amass and Ethan Wheatley.
Højlund and Zirkzee are likely to link up for the first-team on the tour of the United States, with those who competed at Euro 2024 having staggered returns to the club.
