Rasmus Højlund has finally addressed the rumours over his interview with Manchester United fan channel The United Stand, claiming that it was “fake news”.

Højlund, 21, conducted an interview with the fan channel last month with owner Mark Goldbridge. It amassed over 500,000 views on YouTube.

Reports had emerged earlier this month that some of Hojlund’s teammates were unhappy over his decision to be interviewed by Goldbridge because the channel had been ‘built on negativity and slaughtering United players’.

Afterwards, another report explained that this was simply dressing room banter, Højlund has now come out and addressed the situation himself.

Asked by Tipsbladet about the rumours about his teammates being dissatisfied over the interview, Højlund said:

“I haven´t been told anything, so it’s fake news.

“I haven´t read anything about it, but it’s definitely not true that I have been told that I can’t do an interview with one fan media or another.”

The Danish striker joined United last summer and has since scored 13 goals for the club despite a difficult start to life in the Premier League.

He returned from injury last time out against Liverpool, where United progressed to the semi-final of the FA Cup with a stunning 4-3 win.

Højlund has joined Denmark for the international break and is expected to be back firing for United against Brentford at the end of the month.
