Paul Scholes explains who Manchester United must sign after Joshua Zirkzee this summer
Paul Scholes has detailed the type of signing Manchester United must make following this summer’s acquisitions of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.
Manchester United have made a powerful start to the summer transfer window by acquiring Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36 million and securing 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille for £52 million.
The signing of Yoro, in particular, has been met with acclaim, as INEOS and United have been praised for beating Real Madrid to the young talent, showcasing their ambitious plans for the future.

Additionally, the club is keen on bolstering their midfield and have been heavily linked with several new signings across Europe, but former United star Paul Scholes believes the club should still focus on attack.
Despite Zirkzee’s signing, given that the Dutchman is 23, Scholes has explained that the club should still look to sign an experienced striker in order to help him and Højlund in the front line.
“When I think about Manchester United, I think about brilliant centre-forwards,” the former United midfielder told Sky Sports.
‘”I think they’ve had one young one last year in Rasmus Højlund who they have had to rely on, and it was a little bit unfair. He’s a young player, still learning the game.
“They’ve bought another young one [Zirkzee]… I would like to see an experienced centre-forward come and help with that and virtually guarantee goals.
“Whether that man is out there, I don’t know. But I think they need somebody who is proven and somebody who is proven and go on and be successful next year.”
United have been recently linked to Brentford’s Ivan Toney and have reportedly held talks over making a move for the 28-year-old. However, his wage demands, believed to be around £250,000 a week, and a £40 million transfer fee are likely too high for the club as it stands.
