Leny Yoro responds to Lisandro Martínez’s Man Utd demand with promise to Erik ten Hag
Manchester United’s latest signing Leny Yoro has responded to Lisandro Martínez’s demands perfectly with a promise to manager Erik ten Hag.
Yoro, 18, joined United last week and made his unofficial debut against Rangers on the weekend. His performance was stellar, especially considering he had only trained once with the team.
The young Frenchman is expected to line up alongside Lisandro Martínez at the back last term. The Argentine has been one of the club’s best players since he joined in 2022.
Speaking after the FA Cup final victory against Manchester City, the 26-year-old explained that every United player needs to ‘die for this badge’ in order to find that consistency at the top level.
“Amazing feeling. These people deserve everything. This season was not the best because our standard is really high,” Martínez told club media on the Wembley pitch.
“We have to play this kind of game every season, and to win it, this is what Manchester United means.
“Look at the feeling. We have to die for this badge like we did today. I’m so proud of the team, the staff, everyone.”
Now, Yoro has echoed those same words in his first interview with the club. The young defender is prepared to do whatever it takes when Ten Hag calls upon him.
“I spoke with the manager. He wants players who really want to win. When he puts me on the pitch, I’m ready to die for this club,” the 18-year-old stated.
“This is the biggest club in the world. For me, it was a dream to play for this club.
“When I saw them win the FA Cup, I really wanted to be there! To celebrate with the fans.”
