“Horrendous…” Paul Scholes fumes at two Manchester United stars for moment vs Spurs
Paul Scholes has fumed at two Manchester United stars for a specific moment during Erik ten Hag’s 3-0 defeat against Tottenham at Old Trafford.
Manchester United faced their third defeat in the Premier League this season, going down 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.
The match kicked off with Spurs scoring early through Brennan Johnson, and they maintained their offensive pressure on André Onana throughout the first half.

Just before halftime, Bruno Fernandes was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on James Maddison, severely impacting United’s performance.
In the second half, Tottenham quickly doubled their lead, and despite United’s efforts to respond, they conceded a third goal from Dominic Solanke with 15 minutes left, sealing their fate.
While many have focused on Fernandes’ red card as the game’s most significant turning point, former United midfielder Paul Scholes has concentrated on the first goal, slamming two of the club’s players.
The first goal came about after Spurs defender Micky van der Ven won the ball inside their defining third before making a lung-busting run entirely through United’s team, speeding past Matthijs de Ligt and whopping a low cross into the back post for Johnson to tap in.
At the same time, Diogo Dalot, who was marking Johnson, was seen well behind his man, failing to catch up to the Welshman as he tapped the ball into an open net.
“What is De Ligt doing there,” Scholes said on Premier League productions while reviewing the opening goal at half-time. “He has to take everything. If he can’t get to the ball, then he can’t afford for the play to go on. He does and gets away with it.
“How many times have we seen people go through the legs? Close your legs. Dalot has been horrendous in that first half as bad as I have seen him. He is lucky to still be on the pitch, to be honest with you.
Then, post-match, Scholes added further: “Dalot today, not just today, I have seen it a load of times, he ends up in the most incredible places on a football pitch as a fullback.
“I don’t know what all this fashion is all about your fullbacks going into central midfield. He goes all over the place.”
Dalot has played as the club’s auxiliary left-back for most of this season, with injuries ruling out Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. Dalot, who is usually a right-back, does have experience in the role, but it is clear he is better on his more natural right-hand side.
