Ole Gunnar Solskjær throws Jadon Sancho curveball as Manchester United ‘reach’ double transfer agreement

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has thrown a potential curveball in the works amid Jadon Sancho’s transfer negotiations with Juventus.

The Manchester United fan base is currently expressing frustration surrounding United’s transfer business. While this has mainly focused on the lack of incoming players, the lack of outgoing players has been equally poor.

So far, the only arrival likely to make an immediate impact on the first team is the former Wolves talisman, Matheus Cunha.

The club attempted to swiftly follow up this signing with the purchase of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, but United have had several bids rejected and have struggled to reach an agreement regarding the deal structure.

The outgoings are an even more significant problem, as the club has limited funds to recruit new players until sales are achieved, which is part of the reason they have struggled to come to an agreement with Brentford.

Currently, only players whose contracts have expired, such as Victor Lindelöf and Jonny Evans, have departed at this stage in the window.

However, United look set to complete their first big-money departure as a former club manager has inquired about the availability of one of the forwards that Ruben Amorim is looking to sell.

Solskjær pursuing second Sancho saga

Former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær has reportedly enquired about the availability of Jadon Sancho for his Turkish side, Besiktas, according to Turkish journalist Ersin Albayrak, via Kartal Record.

Solskjær signed Sancho in 2021 for £73 million after prolonged interest in the winger. Sancho failed to impress at United and, after a public falling out with Solskjær’s successor, Erik ten Hag, Sancho has been exiled on loan spells to Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

Soslakier’s first summer transfer window as the Besiktas boss has seen him targeting players with Premier League experience. The Turkish side have already signed former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on loan as well as the former West Ham winger Joao Mario on a permanent deal.

Juventus have also been heavily linked to Sancho, with reports stating United have already agreed to accept either a bid of £21.5 million plus add-ons or a straight swap for Douglas Luiz. Besiktas’ current record transfer was just shy of £9.5 million, meaning that to rival Juventus’ bid, they would need to more than double their record spend.

Sancho one of five stars that want out

Earlier this week, it was reported that Jadon Sancho and four other Manchester United stars informed the club of their desire to leave. The other four players were Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia. While the club wants to rid themselves of all of these players, Sancho is the only one to currently have concrete prospects.

Rashford has attracted interest from several clubs, with Barcelona being the most notable. The Spanish giants looked to be heavily pursuing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams before he signed a new long-term deal. Barcelona have been rumoured to be ramping up their interest in Rashford in Williams’ place.

Garnacho is the only one of the five players to have spent the entire season at Manchester United; however, during this time, he failed to impress Amoirm, and some of his off-field behaviour has led to the manager putting him up for sale.

Chelsea had expressed interest in January, but since then, they have acquired several forwards, including former United striker target Liam Delap, which suggests that they likely no longer require Garnacho’s services.

Antony spent the back half of the season out on loan at Real Betis, where he experienced something of a career revival following his return to form. Whilst the Spanish club looked interested in signing him, the transfer appears to be out of their budget and unlikely to come to fruition unless United lower their asking price.

Malacia looks difficult to move on as there has been little interest in the Dutch left-back thus far. The 25-year-old has been plagued with injury during his time at United and had spent the last half of the season out on loan at PSV, who decided not to activate their option to buy clause

Sancho appears to be the most likely of the five to leave first, with both Juventus and Beşiktaş interested in his signature. However, the club will want to move on all five of these players as swiftly as possible.
