Ole Gunnar Solskjær and current boss Erik ten Hag have both agreed on one ‘wonderful’ Manchester United player.

Solskjær, 51, spent around three years as manager at United following a stellar career at the club as a striker.

His tenure ended mid-way through the 2021/22 campaign, with Erik ten Hag taking the reigns at the start of the following season.

Whilst the Dutchman has brought in many different players during his near-two years at Old Trafford, the two managers both have a similar admiration for one player.

Speaking to FourFourTwo about the best and worst moments during his time in charge, Solskjær said: “Scott McTominay’s goal in the 96th minute against City in the last league game before lockdown.

“Scott’s a great player and lad. He always gives 100 per cent for the club and represents United in the best possible way. It was wonderful for everyone.”

The Scottish midfielder has since scored many more important goals for Ten Hag, including a late winner against Aston Villa in February.

Speaking on the midfielder following that game, Ten Hag shared a similar opinion to his predecessor.

“This season, last season as well (McTominay made an impact), so I think he’s an example for many other players nowadays,” Ten Hag said.

“There are not many players who can come from the bench and bring this energy. He’s ready for every minute, always contributing to the team. Football is a team sport and we forget that often.

“But Scott is the example, always giving the spirit, in the week when he is training, doing the right things, working on himself, gives max.

“He’s ready for one minute, he’s ready for 90 minutes, he’s always ready. I think it’s great to have such a player.”
