Scott McTominay sends Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho message after England debut
Scott McTominay has told Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo that “the sky is the limit” following an England debut and fantastic Manchester United form.
18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo and 19-year-old Alejandro Garnacho have firmly established themselves as important players under Erik ten Hag at Manchester United this season.
After both players made their debuts last campaign, they have forced their way into Ten Hag’s starting XI, with Garnacho now a regular with Argentina‘s squad and Mainoo making his England debut on Saturday evening against Brazil.

Scott McTominay himself went through the same learning process in the Carrington academy before becoming a regular in the first-team squad, and he has waxed lyrical about Mainoo’s recent call-up.
“He deserves the England call-up,” McTominay told reporters on Monday afternoon. “He’s been so good for 24, 25 games now.
“He’s barely missed a minute, and it just shows you that whenever young kids come through the academy and they’ve got full confidence in their own ability, that they can go on and do exceptional things.
“I’ve spoken to Kobbie a good couple of times about keeping your head down, concentrating on yourself, and keeping pushing and doing what you’re doing because there’s no reason to stop.”
Speaking further, he also mentioned Garnacho, explaining that both players can do “amazing things” as long as they keep themselves level-headed.
“The sky’s the limit in terms of the potential and wanting to push like Alejandro Garnacho as well. So just as long as they’ve got their right hand on their shoulders and they don’t get too carried away, they can do amazing things. But I’m really, really pleased for him.”
