One Manchester United star could be set for a move to Barcelona this summer and the Spanish club have now made a statement on their transfer policy
Manchester United are set for a very busy summer, with lots of players rumoured to be leaving the club and the recruitment team looking at several targets to improve the squad.
Christopher Vivell and Jason Wilcox look set to lead the recruitment for Rúben Amorim; they have already secured the services of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Despite their early success, they have already missed out on one transfer target with Liam Delap now set to sign for Chelsea for just £30 million after Ipswich Town’s relegation.
However, on a positive note, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes has rejected Al-Hilal’s offer and will stay at Old Trafford.
With so many new arrivals this summer, outgoings will be crucial for Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recruitment team, ensuring that the club don’t breach any FFP regulations.
Barcelona make Rashford statement
Since Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Aston Villa, it’s become clear that he wants a move to Barcelona to reignite his career away from English football.
Their sporting director, Deco, has made a statement in an interview with BBC Sport on their transfer policy now that the first stint of the transfer window has opened.
“We have been focusing on renewing contracts, after that, we’ll discuss players to come,” said Deco. “Of course, these two players [Luis Diaz of Liverpool and Rashford], like you mentioned, they are good but have contracts in their clubs, so we won’t speak because it’s not fair.
“But when you decide to go to the market, for sure, we find some names. In my opinion, we don’t need to bring many players. When I speak with the agents of the players, everyone wants to come or stay. So this is important. The image of the club is still good.”
Deco added how proud he was that Barcelona was still attracting high-quality players, despite their poor form in recent times, much like United. “We are proud because Barcelona is still such a big club, and the way we are playing football makes players want to come.”
Several attacking sales are likely
With Rashford set for a move away from the club, Amorim still has over five senior attacking midfield options, with just the Premier League to play for next season.
Garnacho also looks likely to leave United this summer after falling out with the manager after the Europa League final, but that could still leave too many options at Old Trafford for next season

Cunha and Mason Mount will battle it out for the left attacking midfield spot next season, providing Fernandes drops back to play alongside Casemiro or Manuel Ugarte in the double pivot.
Bryan Mbeumo now looks set to join United after David Ornstein’s report and he will fight for the right-sided No.10 position along with Amad and Kobbie Mainoo, with Joshua Zirkzee also looking for minutes there.
