Mason Mount has agreed personal terms with Manchester United and now are expected to sign the England international and Chelsea midfielder in the coming transfer window.

That information is according to The Telegraph, who added that Erik ten Hag has been confident of signing the 24-year-old.

Mount would bolster United’s midfield at Old Trafford. Despite suffering the worst campaign of his career, the midfielder won back-to-back Player of the Year awards for Chelsea in the seasons prior.

Coming from Chelsea’s academy, Mount has struggled to find an agreement with the club on a new contract and that seems to have led to him looking elsewhere.

Ten Hag has helped rejuvenate Marcus Rashford – who scooped both Player of the Year awards at United’s ceremony on Monday – this term after a torrid 2021/22 season. Fans will hope that he can have a similar impact on his England teammate if he does complete a move.

The aforementioned report added that talks between Mount and the Manchester-based club have progressed positively since United’s 4-1 victory against Chelsea last week.

Meanwhile, Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian has added that United players are expecting Mount to join them this summer.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen currently occupy the midfield pivot in United’s strongest team, with Bruno Fernandes roaming in front of them.

Out of those three, it seems most likely that Mount would be challenging Eriksen for his spot in the side. The 30-year-old has scored twice this season and assisted 10 times.

Ten Hag will also be searching for several other signings in the upcoming window to narrow the gap between United and the top of the Premier League.

A striker is one of the primary demands, according to multiple reports, and Bruno Fernandes has suggested Portugal teammate Goncalo Ramos as an option for the club.
