Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır is considering a move away from Old Trafford due to his frustration over a lack of playing time.

Bayındır joined United just six months ago as a late summer window, signing a four-year deal with the option to extend his contract for a further season.

The young goalkeeper joined the club during a period of significant change between the sticks, with long-term starting goalkeeper David de Gea leaving the club and being replaced by current starter André Onana and no.2 goalkeeper Dean Henderson signing for Crystal Palace.

Since then, Erik ten Hag has decided to play Bayındır just once, in the 4-2 FA Cup win over Newport County, leading to reports he is considering leaving Manchester United.

Turkish sports journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu told GS Gazete: “Altay is quite bored and overwhelmed by this situation.”

Having previously played for rivals Fenerbahçe, Sabuncuoğlu has revealed that Bayındır is considering a move to Turkish champions Galatasaray, who he has had previously been linked with.

Sabuncuoğlu said: “Before coming to Fenerbahçe, Altay Bayındır returned from talks with Galatasaray.

“The young goalkeeper said, ‘I will come to Galatasaray, but I will not be Muslera’s backup,’ of course, when this is not accepted, he accepts Ersun Yanal’s offer in Fenerbahçe.

“Now it is on the agenda again. Altay can come to Galatasaray, but he does not want to be a substitute. He declared like this.”

If Bayındır is adamant that he will not be a no.2 goalkeeper, then perhaps he should leave Old Trafford with it looking highly unlikely that he will displace Onana in the near future.

And if Manchester United can sell him for more than the £4.3m fee they paid last summer, then maybe it would be a good time to move the Turkish international on.
