Manchester United set for transfer battle with Tottenham Hotspur over “dynamic” Premier League star

Manchester United could be set for yet another transfer race as Tottenham Hotspur join the race for a “dynamic” Premier League player, who could be perfect for Rúben Amorim.

Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea will be a big positive for Rúben Amorim, although several prevalent issues remain for the Portuguese manager.

With Casemiro’s red card, Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes are likely to partner each other for the upcoming Premier League matches, but Ugarte has struggled with form since his Old Trafford move.

Even if Ugarte was flying, United are still desperate for another central midfielder to cover the ground needed for Amorim’s system to work in England.

Carlos Baleba appeared to be the main target in the summer transfer window, but Jason Wilcox may have pivoted to another target after the Cameroonian’s poor start to the season.

Spurs join United in Yarmoliuk race

Yehor Yarmoliuk is a Brentford central midfielder and has impressed for Thomas Frank’s old side since his move from SC Dnipro-1.

Now, TeamTalk have reported that both United and Tottenham are considering a move for Yarmoliuk, as he could be a perfect fit for both teams.

Frank knows how Yarmoliuk would fit in at Spurs, having managed him during his time at Brentford. His “dynamic” nature could make him a perfect fit for Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation.

The Ukraine international is still only 21 years old and could be available for a lower fee than Baleba’s rumoured price of over £100 million, although Brentford won’t want to sell this season.

The Bees have already lost Bryan Mbeumo, Yoanne Wissa and Christian Norgaard this summer, so a move for Yarmoliuk would likely have to wait until the summer.

Yarmoliuk and Mainoo partnership could work wonders

While he isn’t a starter right now, Kobbie Mainoo will become a nailed-on regular in the coming years if he is to fulfil his high potential at Old Trafford.

United’s No.37 has experience as both an advanced midfielder and a more defensive-minded player, as does Yarmoliuk.

If Yarmoliuk signed for United, he could partner Mainoo in the engine room, and United could deploy an old-fashioned midfield of two box-to-box players, where one pushes forward and one stays back for each attack.

This wouldn’t suit Fernandes if he remained at the club, but the United captain has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia recently. Next summer may be the time the Red Devils cash in.
