Manchester United are set to meet with Galatasaray ahead of their Champions League tie next week to facilitate a “low-cost” transfer.

Donny van de Beek‘s future at Manchester United is all but written on the page, with the player set to exit the club in the coming windows after completely falling from Erik ten Hag‘s selection.

Van de Beek has played just 21 minutes so far this season making just two appearances off the bench, and after a move to Real Sociedad fell through in the summer, the Netherlands player has picked up interest from Turkey.

Manchester United travel to face Galatasaray on 29 November in their fifth Champions League game of the season, when the Red Devils enter the fixture with a must-win mindset in order to have any chance of qualifying for the competition’s knock-out stages.

According to Sporx, United and Galatasaray will meet in Istanbul to discuss the sale of Van de Beek. The Turkish team believe that the midfielder can be obtained for a “low cost” in the January window.

It is not clear if this move would be either a loan or permanent move, with United likely more focused on getting Van de Beek’s estimated £120k-a-week wage off the books.

Van de Beek was obtained from Ajax for a fee of £35 million in the summer of 2020, but he failed to make much of an impact under either Ole Gunnar Solskjær or Ralf Rangnick.

Many thought the hiring of Ten Hag would help the player break into the Old Trafford squad, but the reliance on Bruno Fernandes and the Portuguese players’ subsequent promotion to club captain shut the door on any future for Van de Beek, who will no doubt want to leave in search for game time.

Van de Beek has been dropped from the national squad in the last year or so and will be looking for the chance to edge his way back in ahead of Euro 2024.
