“Rave” Manchester United player lauded “valuable” by international boss
Manchester United’s Altay Bayındır has received high praise from Turkey boss Vincenzo Montella after the country qualified for Euro 2024.
Altay Bayındır appeared twice for Turkey during the recent international break, facing both Germany and Wales in the last few days.
Turkey defeated Germany 3-2 in a friendly fixture that Manchester United‘s Bayındır started before Erik ten Hag‘s new goalkeeper played 58 minutes against Wales, covering for the injured Uğurcan Çakır.
“Obviously, he is a very young goalkeeper. He showed himself how good a goalkeeper he is,” Turkey manager Vincenzo Montella told Fanatik.

“He has significant experience for his age. Once he gains experience (at Manchester United), he will have the chance to play regularly. Then, he will show how valuable he is.”
Montella has not been the only player to wax lyrical about the 25-year-old, with those who speak to figures within the club also claiming that Bayındır has caused waves within Carrington.
“People I talk to at Manchester United, they rave about Altay Bayındır,” Daily Mirror reporter David McDonnell told Stretford Paddock. “He’s desperate to prove himself.
“United tried to get him in last year. They’ve been monitoring him for a while. If Onana goes to the AFCON and Bayindir performs well, Erik ten Hag will be under pressure to keep him in the team.”
United signed Bayındır for £4.3 million from the Turkish club Fenerbahçe SK as a backup to André Onana. Should Onana travel to play for Cameroon for AFCON in January, Bayındır would be promoted to no. 1 and have his chance to prove himself to United fans.
