Erik ten Hag identifies TEN Manchester United players to sell over next two windows
Manchester United are expecting an exodus across the next two transfer windows as Erik ten Hag revamps his current Old Trafford squad, according to reports.
Manchester United‘s current squad is somewhat bloated, with the team having 31 registered first-team players under Erik ten Hag. Multiple members of this squad are of no use to the Dutchman, and multiple exits are expected across the next nine months.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United are expecting Ten Hag to clear out a number of players, with the report explaining that there are 10 players whom the manager will look to move on in the summer.
Two high-profile names on the list are Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho. Sancho will never play for United again after being banned from all first-team activities after falling out with the manager, whereas Donny van de Beek has made just two appearances this campaign, playing a total of 21 minutes.

With Ten Hag wanting a new centre-back, there may be an exit on the horizon for multiple defender departures. Jonny Evans is out of contract in the summer without the option to extend his deal by a year, while Victor Lindelöf is nearing the end of his, too – but there is an option to extend the Swede’s deal which United are expected to trigger.
Harry Maguire was for sale in the summer window but has seen a resurgence at the club that has relegated Raphaël Varane to a backup role, with the French player potentially looking to leave in the summer. At least one of Lindelof, Maguire, and Varane will likely leave alongside Evans.
In midfield, Scott McTominay, despite recent heroics and a run of game time in the squad, is likely to leave still, having been open to joining West Ham in the summer – although a move never materialised after the London club didn’t increase on their rejected £30 million bid.
The chances of Sofyan Amrabat staying at the club beyond his current loan deal have slimmed after a poor start to life at Old Trafford, and Casemiro has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. United may look to cash in on Christian Eriksen with the player’s contract set to expire in June 2025.
Anthony Martial is currently expected to be released for free in the summer with his current deal expiring in 2024, although United also have the option to extend his contract by a further year to retain some value.
Beyond this, Tom Heaton is expected to exit once his contract runs out at the end of the season, and question marks remain over the futures of Brandon Williams and Alvaro Fernandez, who are on loan at Ipswitch Town and Girona respectively. Shola Shoretire’s contract expires in the summer, too.
United will look to move Mason Greenwood on in either January or the summer after it was announced that the club will look to move him on after his domestic abuse case. He is currently on loan at La Liga side Getafe and his contract expires in 2025.
