Manchester United have started showing interest in a Hugo Ekitike alternative. The 23-goal striker is appreciated greatly by Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell.
It is no secret that Manchester United are desperate for a new striker to lead their line this summer, but their pursuit hasn’t got off to the greatest of starts.
After securing the services of top target Matheus Cunha, United’s summer activities have hit a few bumps in the road.
Their pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo remains in the works, whilst their search for a striker has become increasingly complex as the weeks have passed.
Ruben Amorim has had his hands forced regarding a striker signing, as many of their original options have either moved elsewhere or stayed put at their current clubs, leaving very few players to target.
United scout Genk’s Arokodare
With United having to be careful of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, some savvy business may be on the cards, unless they make some major sales.
Due to multiple targets now not being available to the Red Devils, Amorim’s side have recently turned their attentions towards Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, although he would reportedly cost upward of £60 million.
According to United In Focus, United have reportedly scouted an alternative to Ekitike in 24-year-old Genk striker Tolu Arokodare, who stands at a monstrous 6 feet and 6 inches tall.
The Nigerian tallied 23 goals and seven assists for the season across all competitions. He has caught the eye of Christoph Vivell and Jason Wilcox, who reportedly appreciate the forward.
Is Arokodare the answer?
As explained to United In Focus by transfer insider Grame Bailey, “Ruben Amorim knows what he wants, he wants that target man – we know the club are potentially moving on from Rasmus Højlund.
“Victor Osimhen and Victor Gyökeres, these are targets for a reason, but their first choice was Liam Delap – we know that – but we also know he [Amorim] wasn’t that keen.

“So could Arokodare emerge as a target? It’s not impossible – he is a huge talent, in every way.”
The Nigerian could cost as little as £20 million, which would be a very low-risk, high-potential alternative to some of the other names being thrown about; however, would it be enough to answer Amorim’s striker conundrum?
