Manchester United are confident of completing a deal with Bayern Munich for Marcel Sabitzer after it was confirmed that Christian Eriksen will be out injured for three months.

The club released a statement which said the Danish midfielder will be out of action until late April to early May.

This has led to United searching across Europe for potential loan deals. They were offered Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid.

Initial reports from Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg have revealed that United both inquired about Bayern’s Sabitzer as a replacement for the injured Eriksen and they are pushing for a deal to be complete. It was said that Bayern are in talks with United and Chelsea for the midfielder.

Fabrizio Romano, among others, followed up on this story. The Italian reporters said that Chelsea are in fact focusing on other deals on deadline day as things stand and that United are discussing potential terms with the Bundesliga giants for the midfielder. He also added that the Austrian midfielder wants to leave the German club and discussions are ongoing.

Additional information from Sport Bild says that Sabitzer is ‘on the verge’ of joining the English club after not training with the Bayern squad on Tuesday afternoon.

Caught Offside has revealed that the negotiations are for a loan deal with an option to buy. Sabitzer’s agent Roger Wittmann flew into Manchester to finalise talks late last night. Sabizter is excited at the prospect of playing a first-team role at Old Trafford.

Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News has since reported that United are confident of completing the deal, which will be on loan, before the deadline.

Sabizter joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2021 from RB Leipzig. He has made 24 appearances for the Bundesliga club this season, scoring once and registering one assist.
