Manchester United plotting £140m double transfer swoop in 2025, with key priorities outlined
Manchester United are reportedly plotting a double transfer swoop worth around £140 million next summer as the club’s key priorities have been outlined.
The Reds completed the signings of Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, and Manuel Ugarte in the summer transfer window.
These new signings have bolstered Erik ten Hag’s team considerably, and United also did well in selling players over the summer, with Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Mason Greenwood among those who departed.
New sporting director Dan Ashworth stated that he was happy with the business done over the summer. Still, they are already looking ahead to the upcoming transfer windows at Old Trafford.
£140m swoop for Branthwaite and Eze
According to a new report from the Manchester Evening News, the Reds are monitoring Eberechi Eze’s situation at Crystal Palace as they look to reinforce their squad next summer.
It was added that the 26-year-old playmaker has a release clause of £68 million that can be reactivated next year.
Meanwhile, the same report explained that United are expected to continue tracking Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. The Reds had two offers rejected for the 21-year-old in the summer.
The Toffees were holding out for their £70 million valuation of the player, which United deemed too expensive and turned their attention to signing De Ligt and Yoro.
United could be potentially looking at a £140 million outlay for these two English stars next summer, although they could attempt to sign Branthwaite for a lower price especially if Everton are relegated.
Key priorities outlind
The report clairified the key priorities that United have outlined for the 2025 summer transfer window. The provisional plan is to sign a defender, a midfielder and a winger.
It was added that the club are aiming to sign a specialist left back while also planning to add at least one midfielder to the squad due to likely departures of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.
Victor Lindelöf is also expected to depart at the end of his contract unless United can find an exit for him in the January transfer window, while Jonny Evans could retire at the end of the campaign.
