Manchester United’s Antony has been slammed for his performance against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Wednesday evening.

Manchester United got themselves into the hat for the FA Cup quarter-final on Wednesday evening after they defeated fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

After a drab performance where many chances were wasted, Casemiro got the crucial touch as his low, diving header nodded the ball past Matt Turner to turn Bruno Fernandes‘ cross in during the dying moments.

However, earlier in the fixture, Alan Shearer chose to focus on Antony after the winger was substituted during the 70th minute of the game.

“Well, he might be disappointed he’s coming off, but he hasn’t done anywhere near enough to want him to stay on the pitch tonight,” Shearer said of Antony on the BBC commentary.

“Same old, same old. Get the ball, come inside, pass it to someone else or have a shot. It’s not enough when you cost that much money.”

United paid £86 million for Antony during the summer of 2024 after Erik ten Hag requested the club sign the player at any cost, but he has failed to live up to expectations so far.

Next, the club will face Liverpool in the quarter-finals, with the fixture set to take place at Old Trafford on the weekend of the 16th March.
