Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has stated that Fulham aimed to exploit One Manchester United player’s weaknesses during their victory last weekend.

Wright, a member of the Premier League’s ‘100 club’ scored 113 Premier League goals during his playing career, and has plenty of experience of targeting an opposition player himself.

In his opinion, that was exactly what Fulham’s gameplan was during the London side’s 2-1 win over United on Saturday, with Wright believing that Raphael Varane was forced into making errors by Fulham.

Varane, 30, has been heavily linked with a move away from United this summer and was part of a highly dysfunctional United defence, according to Wright.

“I tell you who you could hear a couple of not groans but… Varane. I could see Fulham targeted Varane,” Stated Wright on his Wrighty’s House podcast.

“They marked up everybody in the midfield and only gave him one pass back inside to Harry Maguire and he took so long to get the control down and give it to Casemiro, then he got caught on it and Fulham went again.

“I was like, they are so unorganised. There is going to be some more defeats for Man United this season.”

Wright’s comments about the lack of organisation from United will not come as a surprise to many who watched the game, as well as those who played in it.

Alex Iwobi who scored Fulham’s winning goal deep into stoppage time stated that his side never doubted that they would score a winner against United.
