Manchester United provide new Mason Mount injury update, with return date outlined
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an update on Mason Mount’s latest injury, which will rule him out of the Arsenal clash this weekend.
Mount, 25, has experienced three major setbacks this term since signing for United from Chelsea in a deal worth around £55 million.
The midfielder has missed 27 games through injury since his Old Trafford move and has started just eight times in all competitions.
He returned to the starting lineup last time out as United lost 4-0 against Crystal Palace and then suffered another injury in training afterwards.
“I’m very happy with Mason and he’s also a very robost player in his profile, he played in the last four seasons only had a small issue at the end of his Chelsea career,” said Ten Hag.
“Before that he played almost all the games, three seasons after each other, with three days turnaround. He always played and so I think it is really bad luck.
“He’s a very good player, and we really missed him across the season I think, because he would have had a contribution to our levels.”
It has been a disappointing campaign so far for Mount but fortunately, it is not the end of it. After it was confirmed he would miss the Arsenal game, many feared that he was ruled out for the season.
However, Ten Hag has since confirmed to club media that the injury is only “minor” and that Mount should be fit for the final Premier League game against Brighton and the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
“It’s a minor issue,” said Ten Hag. “He is definitely not out for the season – a couple of days, and then he will return.
“Maybe Newcastle is too short, but I think he can be available for Brighton.”
