Thomas Tuchel believes Man United star has “full package” amid Old Trafford links
Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel believes one Manchester United star has the “full package” amid links to the managerial job at Old Trafford.
Tuchel, 50, is linked with the United job while there seems to be uncertainty over the future of Erik ten Hag.
INEOS have made several changes at the club since taking charge, and Ten Hag has not exactly provided the best first impressions, with one win in his last eight games.
Tuchel, who is leaving Bayern at the end of the season, has been reported as one of the favourites to take over if the Dutchman ends up departing.
The German manager has recently claimed that he “loved” his time in England when he managed Chelsea, and it’s likely that he will have a certain player in mind should he make the Old Trafford move.
Tuchel’s full package comments
Tuchel worked with Mason Mount during his three-season stint at Stamford Bridge, and the English midfielder was one of his most trusted players.
Mount was key to the Champions League-winning squad under Tuchel and the manager has previously labelled the United midfielder as the “full package”.
Speaking about both Mount and Phil Foden in 2021, Tuchel said: “They are examples of how good young players can be and how good young players from England can be. There are the outstanding examples at the moment.
“I can’t speak about Phil Foden as he’s not my player, but you can see the ability and desire to decide the biggest games. I have the impression he is a nice guy and has a clear character like Mason.
“Mason is outstanding and he has the full package of being humble and full of talent. The national team can be very happy to arrive with these players because they are reliable at the highest level, and they behave exactly how you want them to behave.”
Mount has been unlucky so far
Mount’s debut campaign at United couldn’t have gone much worse for him, with the midfielder receiving yet another injury setback this term.
While he would likely benefit from playing under Tuchel, the 25-year-old would also benefit from simply playing more minutes and staying fit.
Next season, he must be physically prepared, and then United fans can start truly judging him.
