Manchester United have 'very serious' interest Leroy Sane, Bayern Munich stance explained

Manchester United reportedly have ‘very serious’ interest in a Bundesliga winger whose contract expires in the summer of 2025.

Manchester United were busy in the previous summer window, signing five first-team players and several young stars for their Academy.

Now that Erik ten Hag has gone and new head coach Ruben Amorim has taken the reigns, the Old Trafford outfit are expected to be busy in upcoming windows as well.

The Portuguese coach will definitely want some players signed who suit the way he wants to play, although he will also be keen to get the best out of the current playing squad.

Several Sporting players have already been linked with a move to reunite with their former manager at United in the summer window, although Amorim has confirmed he will not be raiding his former club in the mid-season transfer market.

United ‘very serious’ option for Leroy Sane

According to a new report from Bundesliga insider Christian Falk, the Reds are knocking on the door of Leroy Sane’s for a potential deal.

And while the German international did not enjoy living in Manchester during his time with United’s rivals Manchester City, the report states that a move to Old Trafford is a ‘very serious’ option for him.

The 28-year-old currently earns a total package of just over £16 million per year at Bayern Munich, and the German club would like to decrease his salary of around 25 per cent if he wants to stay there beyond his current contract end.

Yet, Sane’s contract runs out in the summer of 2025, which means that he could end up coming available in the summer window for free.

United should avoid Leroy Sane deal

For United, they do lack some quality on the flanks but with Amorim set to move to his 3-4-3 formation from Sporting, Sane joining would make little sense.

It would be unlikely that he would join to be a wingback and he doesn’t seem like he would suit the two no.10 roles in that system.

On high wages, you would be expecting an extremely influential player but Sane is not as impactful as he once was at City.

He has scored 13 goals since the start of last season, which falls in line with with productivity of United’s other wide men.

With many different positions that need strengthening, this doesn’t seem like the best deal United could go in for in the upcoming summer window.
