Player Ratings: Manchester United vs Man City (Community Shield)

Manchester United lost against Manchester City after penalties in their Community Shield clash at Wembley Stadium.
The Reds held their own as various players returned to action after their post-summer tournament holidays.
Erik ten Hag’s side were the better side over 90 minutes, with Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho standing out.
It was a penalty shootout which was filled with great spot kicks but Jonny Evans hit his shot over the bar before Manuel Akanji scored the winner for United’s rivals.
The player ratings so far can be read below.
André Onana – 6/10
Not much work to do. Good penalty save early in the shootout.
Diogo Dalot – 6.5/10
A decent performance on his return all things considered.
Harry Maguire – 7/10
Decent throughout with a few important interceptions.
Jonny Evans – 5/10
A shaky first half, better in the second period.
Lisandro Martínez – 6/10
Not as impactful on that left side but made a positive impression, especially when he returned centrally.
Casemiro – 6/10
A solid game mostly with some great passes as well.
Kobbie Mainoo – 7.5/10
Considering he came back into the lineup after a handful of training sessions, Mainoo had a very good performance.
Mason Mount – 7/10
Great in the press and had some good moments on the ball. Not far away from putting Amad’s square ball into the back of the net. Solid.
Amad Diallo – 8.5/10
United’s best player while on the pitch. Things happen when the ball is at his feet and it’s something that Ten Hag needs to make sure happens as much as possible.
Bruno Fernandes – 7/10
A brilliant goal ruled out after straying offside. Solid throughout.
Marcus Rashford – 5.5/10
Solid defensive work, should’ve done better with two big chances in front of goal.
Subs
Facundo Pellistri – 5/10
Had to come in at right-back and fell asleep for the City equaliser.
Scott McTominay – 6/10
OK performance.
Toby Collyer – 6/10
Looked decent.
Alejandro Garnacho – 8.5/10
A brilliant goal scored and should’ve got an assist after a great pass to Rashford as well. A lively display off the bench.
