Manchester United announce the signing of two new youth prospects
Manchester United have announced the signings of talented youth players Samuel Lusale and James Overy.
Overy and Lusale will arrive well aware of the pathway to the first team that several members of Erik ten Hag’s squad have taken.
Most recently, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho have risen through the ranks of the United youth system, becoming key players in the Red Devils’ first team. Sekou Kone (18) meanwhile was included in Ten Hag’s squad for this Premier League season.
The signings of both Lusale and Overy have been in the work for some time but were subject to approval from both the Premier League and FA.
That approval has now been given, so the signings of both Overy and Lusale have now gone through with both joining the club.
Overy arrives having recently played for both Perth Glory and Newton Abbot Spurs. Lusale on the other hand joins from Crystal Palace.
The signing of fellow youth player Chido Obi-Martin is yet to receive approval from the Premier League however, clearance is still expected to be granted.
Joining a winning team
News of the arrival of both Samuel Lusale and James Overy comes the same day as Manchester United U18s recorded a 5-1 victory away to Newcastle United U18s.
The Red Devils’ youth team beat Newcastle with two of the goals coming from Gabriele Biancheri. Additional goals came from James Scanlon, Amir Ibragimov, and Jim Alec Joseph Thwaites.
The defending champions of the U18 Premier League, United’s U18s are currently unbeaten this season, winning all four games league games so far.
