Premier League star advised against Man United move – warned of “selfish” Red Devils team
Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has warned Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze about joining the Red Devils next season.
Eze, 26, has been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park over the last twelve months, with many surprised a summer move failed to materialise over the most recent transfer window.
Linked with a variety of top clubs around Europe, reports as recent as this week have stated Manchester United have an interest in making the attacker Erik ten Hag’s next signing.
Comparing Eze to United’s Bruno Fernandes, Parker a two-time Premier League winner with the Reds explained the differences between the two.
“His [Eze’s] game is a little bit more disciplined than Bruno’s,” Parker explained in an interview with BettingExpert. “There’s more structure in a Palace team for Eze to play in than there would be in a Manchester United team.
“He knows he can give the ball to people, and they’ll give it back to him because they know he’s a special player and respect his ability.”
Despite admitting Eze is a “special player” Parker advised the Crystal Palace star to not sign for United, because of the flaws of the current United squad.
“If Eze was to come into United, it would take some time for him to adapt because he couldn’t play his natural game—and that’s why you sign players,” Parker stated. “You want them to play their natural game. You wouldn’t get the best from him right away.”
“He came into his own once Zaha went, and it was him and Olise. He’s a good player, no doubt about that, but you wouldn’t get the best from him in this United team because it’s a selfish Manchester United team.
“It would be hard for him to say no, but I think playing a lead role at Palace would do him more good than leaving Palace last summer.
“I’m sure he may be a bit disappointed he didn’t get a move, but he can be a leader there for now. Eze will move on from Palace, but he has to pick his club correctly.”
Eze is set to feature against United in less than two weeks, as the Red Devils travel to London to face Palace on the 21st of September.
