Manchester United face competition after activating Serge Gnabry January transfer interest
Manchester United and Real Madrid are reportedly set to battle it out for Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry in the January transfer market.
Manchester United, after it was confirmed that both Jadon Sancho and Antony would step away from the first team due to off-field problems, are short of right-wingers.
Erik ten Hag is facing a selection headache with his front line as most of his preferred players often thrive either through the middle and on the left, as opposed to the right-hand side.
The Dutchman does currently have Facundo Pellistri as a right-sided option, but the club have now reportedly turned their heads to the January window in order to secure Ten Hag extra firepower.
This comes in the form of Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry, who Spanish outlet Nacional claims is of interest to both United and Real Madrid this summer.
The report claims that United are willing to “bet heavily” on the player, who would no doubt improve Ten Hag’s team, which has had issues struggling with depth problems.
Gnabry himself scored against United last week during Bayern Munich’s 4-3 win over Ten Hag’s club during the opening game week of the Champions League season, netting the second goal of the game to send his side 2-0 up.
However, Gnabry is also said to be a “great wish” of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who is often heavily involved in Los Blancos’ transfer plans and activity.
