Manchester United have been ‘notified’ by the Italian giants Juventus of the minimum transfer fee needed to bring their latest centre-back target to Old Trafford.

United have been very vocal that one of the main areas that they want to strengthen in Erik ten Hag’s side is central defence. The Red Devils have leaked goals all season. However, this is mainly due to injuries to key players in the back line, including Lisandro Martínez, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.

The three made their return to first-team action in the 4-2 victory away at Newport County, which saw Manchester United progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

With Raphaël Varane’s contract set to run out at the end of the season, the club have been linked with many names who could replace the Frenchman if he leaves in the summer.

Everton scarlet Jarrad Branthwaite is said to be highly rated by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co, and Ten Hag’s former Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt is being monitored as the Dutchman’s frustrations grow at the lack of playing time for Bayern Munich.

The latest talent to grab United’s attention is making a name for himself in the Serie A by being a trusted regular for Juventus. Gleison Bremer has played every game so far this season in the league for the Old Lady and has barely missed a minute.

It is being reported by Calciomercato that Juventus have slapped a minimum price tag of £60 million on the Brazilian central defender, and The Reds have been made known of this before they approached the player about a potential move in the summer to Old Trafford.

The 36 times Italian champions are set to make a nice profit on the 26-year-old if he does leave Turin after his 18 month stay since joining from Torino for £35 million in 2022.
