Manchester United could be one of several clubs to compete for a Fulham star in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United’s summer transfer plans are unlikely to have been finalised just yet, with the managerial search still going on.
Michael Carrick was only expected to be the head coach until the end of the season, but his good form since joining, and the fact that he wasn’t named as an interim, appeared to have thrown his name under consideration.
Other head coach candidates, Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel, have both signed new deals with international teams, meaning Carrick will have moved up the shortlist.
No matter the manager, Director of Football Jason Wilcox will be searching for new players to join the INEOS philosophy, rather than focusing on manager-style players.
Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe purchased a minority stake in United, the recruitment team has focused on signing young players – something that looks set to continue.
United enter “mad race” for Fulham star
Samuel Amissah, who is yet to make his senior debut for Fulham, is a 19-year-old centre-back. He has started 14 games for Fulham’s Under-21s side in Premier League 2 this season.
Speaking on The United Stand, transfer journalist Ben Jacobs said there will be a “mad race” for the Fulham youngster, and Manchester United are likely to be in the race, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Amissah would likely join United’s Under-21s side, which is currently led by Adam Lawrence, but Travis Binnion could return to that role at the end of the season, after joining Darren Fletcher’s first-team staff.
The 19-year-old could also be loaned out if he were to move to Old Trafford. The Fulham youngster could be another to join INEOS-owned Lausanne-Sport after Enzo Kana-Biyik and Sékou Koné’s loan moves to the club.

Where does that leave Heaven and Yoro?
Towards the back end of Rúben Amorim’s stint, Ayden Heaven was one of the best players at the club, but since Carrick has come in, Heaven has been restricted to minutes from the bench, even in Lisandro Martínez’s absence.
When all of United’s centre-backs are fit, Heaven would likely be fifth choice behind Harry Maguire, Martínez, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro, with Tyler Fredricson another young prospect who will be hungry for minutes.

If United signed another promising centre-back, one of Heaven or Yoro may be forced to go on loan, allowing Amissah to adapt to life in Manchester.
Champions League football could keep them all at the club, but some players could still be left without regular senior gametime.
