The Manchester United board have seemingly ignored one of Rúben Amorim’s transfer demands after approaching one player this summer.
Manchester United look set to sign a new centre forward in the summer transfer window, due to the poor goalscoring form of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee last season.
The two managed just 17 goals in all competitions last year, in over 100 combined appearances for Rúben Amorim’s side and Jason Wilcox has been looking at several for the first team.
Enzo Kana-Biyik has yet to officially join United, but his transfer appears inevitable; however, he is believed to be a signing for the youth team, at least in his first season.
Liam Delap looked set to join the club earlier in the window, but he preferred a move to Chelsea to reunite with his former Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca.
Napoli’s Victor Osimhen appears to be another option for Amorim’s side, but the lack of Champions League football could mean the Nigerian chooses to go elsewhere.
United ignore Amorim’s Ekitike stance
Another striking option is Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike; the French forward has scored 44 goals since his professional debut and is coming off the back of a strong season which makes a move away from Germany possible.
While United are interested in Ekitike, GiveMeSport have reported that Amorim would prefer a more proven striker who has years of experience. The report stated that United’s leadership team have asked to be kept up to date on the young striker despite Amorim’s demands.
The former PSG striker enjoyed his first full season as a starting striker last year, but he amassed just 17 appearances in the previous two campaigns.
It is also mentioned in the report that Amorim would prefer Viktor Gyokeres or Victor Osimhen, as both have more experience than the 22-year-old Ekitike.
The Portuguese manager may favour a move for Gyokeres due to his previous time with the Swedish striker at Sporting CP, with the centre forward scoring 43 goals and registering 14 assists in their only full season together.
No way back for Garnacho or Rashford
With Hojlund’s future still unknown and the addition of a top centre forward looking likely, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford look set for permanent moves away from Old Trafford.

Garnacho played the majority of his football under Amorim on the left of the front three, but that is where Matheus Cunha impressed for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Argentine’s public fall-out with the manager won’t help his case, but he could have more chance than Rashford of remaining at United next season.
United’s No.10 played as both a striker and attacking midfielder under Amorim, but his time at Aston Villa was spent largely as a centre forward. With a new signing and the players already at the club, including Chido Obi, Rashford could struggle for game-time, so he will likely seek a move away.
